The Secret Chicken Club

By Alexis Goben
Oklahoma

Once there was a chicken named Gertrude Mc Cluck. She had a very secret human friend named Charity. Together, they formed the secret chicken club. They called it the "SCC" for short. Gertrude and Charity both had a lot of members in the club. Some of their friends that were in the SCC were Gabriela, Grace, Cala, Carol and Nolynn.

Then another day Mrs. McCluck laid a golden egg. She was so very proud of her special egg. She sat on it every day. But one morning when she woke up, it was GONE! Oh, where could it be?

Mrs. McCluck had a great idea! She would ask the SCC to help her find it. So she gathered all of the members of the Secret Chicken Club together. She told them about her missing golden egg. They were all very concerned.

At night they found the key to the Rover. The Rover belonged to the owners of Bloom Valley Farm. The SCC took the Rover and searched all around the farm trying to find the missing golden egg.

First they stopped by the kennel where Ike the dog slept. They asked him if he had seen the egg. Ike said no.

Then they went to tree fort and asked Alexis if she had seen the golden egg. She said yes, but then it disappeared into thin air.

Next they went up on the hill to the goats. They stopped and asked Ruth. She was a nice goat who was in charge of the whole herd. Ruth said, "Yes, I accidentally took it because I thought it was nobody's. But I am very sorry."

Then the SCC circled around the rest of the farm and spent the rest of night swinging from the tire swing on the big old oak tree.

And thus is the end of "The Mystery of the Missing Golden Egg." The Secret Chicken Club hoped to solve many more mysteries in the days to come.
