One day Gertrude McCluck was taking a nap up in a tree when suddenly she heard Roger the Rhode Island Red rooster call "Gertrude! Lily the Light Brahma is missing!''

Gertrude flew down from the tree and said, "Where was she when last you saw her?"

Roger replied, "In the nesting boxes."

Gertrude said, "I'll go ask the farmer." Waddling up to the house she knocked on the door, "tap, tap" went her buff colored wing on the red wood door.

The farmer came out and said, "What Gertrude?"

"Have you seen Lily?" Gertrude asked.

"I saw her heading down the road holding a beach bag, I think she was going to the beach", said the farmer.

Then Gertrude went down the road with her trusty spyglass and a beach bag. Finally Gertrude found Lily the Light Brahma sitting on the sand drinking a pineapple smoothie with a little pink umbrella in it. Lily had a little bucket of sand next to her. It was then that Gertrude realized Lily had gone to the beach for sand to help her digest her food.

Gertrude got a pineapple smoothie (with a purple umbrella) of her own and relaxed on the sand.
