One day on the farm, Gertrude McCluck found a new chicken strolling along. Gertrude McCluck didn't know if it was a boy or a girl. She went over to talk to the new chicken. Gertrude McCluck found out it was a girl. The girl was named Rose Bud.
Gertrude and Rosebud spent a lot of time together after that day. They learned a lot of new stuff about each other. Gertrude learned Rose Bud's favorite food was grasshoppers. Rose Bud learned Gertrude's favorite food was worms. Gertrude learned Rose Bud's favorite color was red. Rose Bud learned Gertrude's favorite color was brown. The two were inseparable.
Rose Bud liked to play games. Her favorite game was chicken checkers. It is a game like checkers but uses the ground for a board and grain for pieces. Rose Bud was very good at chicken checkers. She often won since her opponents, like Gertrude, ate their pieces.
Gertrude preferred reading to games. Gertrude's favorite story was "Click, Clack, Moo." She thought any story that had animals in it was just wonderful.
One day, Rose Bud and Gertrude decided to put their favorite activities together. They made a new game. They called it Poultry Poetry in Motion. The object of the game was to create a poem and then move your piece on the chicken checkerboard. They soon had the attention of everyone else in the coop. The other chickens decided to play Poultry Poetry in Motion too. Before they knew it, Gertrude and Rose Bud had many new friends and lived happily ever after.
