One day Gertrude McCluck was walking along a street in Lansing. She heard some clucking coming from a backyard. She decided to investigate the clucking sounds. She spotted a tree and a swing set. She also spotted a chicken coop. She was about to walk inside, when all of a sudden a young Ameraucana walked up to Gertrude. The chicken said, "Hello, what is your name?"
Gertrude said, "My name is Gertrude McCluck, and what is your name?"
The chicken said, "My name is Lucy and I have three sisters that live here with me. Their names are Daisy, Velma and Henny Penny."
Gertrude said, "Wow, you must do a lot of things together. What are some of the things you do together?"
Lucy said, "We eat treats and share our chicken food. Sometimes we have corn, sunflower seeds and grit. Sometimes we get watermelon and we eat squash together."
Gertrude said, "Yummy! What color are your eggs?"
Lucy said, "They are greenish blue."
Gertrude said, "Wow, my eggs are brown."
Lucy said, "Would you like to see around our chicken coop?"
"Sure," said Gertrude.
Lucy said, "Let's first look at nesting box."
Gertrude said, "Ok." So they went up into the chicken coop.
Gertrude said, "Your chicken coop is very nice."
Lucy said, "Thank you very much. It is starting to get dark, so perhaps you have to go home."
Gertrude said, "You are right! Bye-bye, I will visit you tomorrow when the sun comes up again."
